Waitomo Group owner Jimmy Ormsby and the Ormsby family have acquired a 50% shareholding in Tranzliquid Logistics.

The deal ends 25 years of sole ownership by the Pert family and formalises a long-standing relationship between the two New Zealand-owned businesses.

Tranzliquid provides bulk fuel transportation and logistics services throughout New Zealand. The Pert family has developed the Mt Maunganui based-company into an important part of the country’s fuel supply chain since it was founded in 2000.

Ormsby says he has worked with owners Greg and Jackie Pert and the Tranzliquid team for more than 20 years, with the company serving as a trusted transport partner to Waitomo throughout that period.

“Over those years I’ve seen first-hand what makes them special: a ‘can do, will do’ attitude, real professionalism, and a team that works hard and backs each other.

“Those values align closely with mine – business built on integrity, hard mahi and a growth focus.”

Tranzliquid says the investment will support its expansion, including new contracts and a larger workforce through 2027.

“Their backing supports Tranzliquid’s growth … and our ability to keep investing in the safe, reliable service our customers rely on,” the company says.

Ormsby says the ownership change will not affect Tranzliquid’s day-to-day identity or operations.

“It will be business as usual at Tranzliquid. Same name, same trucks, same great people.”

He thanked Greg, Jackie and Gareth Pert and the wider Tranzliquid team for their trust and partnership.

“I’m honoured to be a part of their next chapter,” Ormsby says.
