The addition of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) to the Hilux makes it an even safer mobile workplace for New Zealand fleets, says Toyota NZ chief operating officer Neeraj Lala.

“Toyota continually aims to improve the new technology available to its customers, and TSS is a start down the technology road towards autonomy in vehicles,” Lala says.

.Toyota NZ says it is committed to offering New Zealanders a high specification level of safety features as standard on all its vehicles.

From the new entry-level 2WD single cab chassis to the SR5 Cruiser, all Hilux variants will include the TSS package.

The revised Hilux is the first vehicle to be put forward to ANCAP for retesting and is the only ute with a 2019 five-star rating.

“Customer demand for safety specific technology has really aided us in securing TSS for the Hilux,” Lala says. “74% of our Hilux customers year to date are fleet buyers, and there has been an increase in demand for five-star ANCAP safety ratings.”

All Hilux variants gain pre-collision system with autonomous emergency braking for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with brake control and road sign assist.

The ‘S’ Hilux variants have been discontinued and will be replaced by a new entry grade this month.

No increase in price for the Hilux range, despite adding the TSS technology.

The 2019 Toyota Hilux variants prices range from $31,990 to $56,990 and includes all on road costs.
