Mitsubishi creating Triton Huntaway for National Fieldays

For next week’s National Fieldays, Mitsubishi Motors NZ has created a special edition of its Triton pick up, called the Huntaway.

“We’ve taken the Triton 4WD VRX and untamed it,” says Mitsubishi Motor NZ general manager of vehicle sales and marketing Daniel Cook.

“If our regular Triton is tough, this is the Terminator. You don’t want to miss viewing this beast, so come and see us at Fieldays site J30,” says Cook.

The special edition Ute wears a TJM front protection bar, custom wide fenders, roof and front-mounted Narva light bars, plus a Rhino Rack Pioneer roof tray and personalised decal.

It wears DTM Fuel Ripper 20-inch wheels shod with 35-inch Atturo Trail Blade M/T tyres, so the Huntaway stands over 100mm above a regular Triton.

That height is achieved through front one-inch spacers between the strut and chassis, two-inch rear lift blocks and a 2.5-inch body lift.

Any rocks thrown up underneath will meet with resistance from the custom Huntaway undertray, while any bigger boulders can be dodged with assistance from Evolution 8 Brembo brakes up front and rear disk brakes borrowed from Pajero Sport.

Wading through water is aided by the addition of a snorkel; and the build team has thrown on side steps and a jack rear bar, plus a Fully Equipped trade top.

Inside creature comforts include leather sport interior with Huntaway stitching.
