Holden NZ says its new business strategy focusing on light commercial vehicles and SUVs is paying off with good growth.

National sales manager Matthew Taylor says the fresh business strategy started in September last year in response to “changing consumer preferences”.

Year to date, all Holden light commercial vehicles and SUV models have registered solid growth.

Sales of the Colorado are up almost 10%, Trax is up more than 40%, Equinox has increased more than 50% and Trailblazer is up 60%.

“We’re enjoying great support from our dealer partners and the new strategy is really resonating with our customers,” Taylor says.

Holden has also announced the Astra Wagon will be discontinued as the passenger car segment is down 11% so far this year and demand for the model has declined as motorists move towards more popular SUVs and utes.

Colorado Z71 set for upgrades

The Holden Colorado Z71 is also set to receive some styling upgrades for the arrival of the 2020 models landing in November.

New additions include wheel-arch fender flares, a new black grille, underbody protection, DuraGuard Spray-on tub liner and a soft-drop tailgate.

Holden NZ national marketing manager Marc Warr says the “overall aesthetics of the vehicle have been enhanced” as a result.

“The new tailgate, available exclusively on the updated Colorado Z71, is a great feature as it alleviates the traditional thumping ‘drop action’ of tailgates from days gone by.”

The new features build upon the existing 18-inch alloy wheels, leather interior and heated front seats and come at no extra cost.

“In addition, the new Colorado Z71 – as with all new vehicles sold at authorised Holden dealers around the country – comes complete with a three-year free scheduled servicing plan, together with three-year free roadside assistance and three-year free warranty,” Warr says.
