New trucks, SUVs and hybrid vehicles with advanced technology are all part of Ford Motor Company’s new line-up.
The company has announced a fresh range of vehicles by 2020 in the North American market that meet the demands of connectivity and innovation.
This includes its open platform Transportation Mobility Cloud, 4G connectivity and driver-assist technology Ford Co-Pilot360.
The new approach is set to replace more than 75% of the company’s current portfolio with an addition of four new trucks and SUVs to its range.
A push on hybrid-electrics will bring the new features to its popular vehicles such as the F-150, Mustang, Explorer, Escape and Bronco.
Battery electric vehicle rollouts are due to start in 2020.
Ford president and chief executive Jim Hackett says the transformation will “thrill customers, drive profitable growth and further build toward our future of smart vehicles in a smart world”.
Ford’s truck business is set to grow as the company adds new models with high-end trims.
The company is also shifting US$7 billion in capital from cars to SUVs as it estimates commercial vehicles will account for 50% of U.S. sales by 2020.
It predicts more than one million units in Ford SUV sales over the next three years.
