Used truck imports booming

Light trucks imports from Japan have bounced back to life this year, with the used import truck trade recovering from the double whammy hits of the GFC and tougher emissions regulations.

Used import trucks, over 3500kg, have almost trebled this year compared with the same months in 2011.

In the eight months-to-date, 428 used import trucks and buses have been sold this year – compared with a measly 148 last year. This represents a huge 189.19% increase, year on year.

Light commercials – principally used import utes and vans – have also picked up in sales, hitting 1897 in the eight months this year – compared with only 773 in the same period last year.

This is another huge increase – up 1124 vehicles of 145.51% on 2011.
