A New Mobility Workshop to prepare those involved in transportation decision-making for significant coming changes to mobility is planned across New Zealand and Australia during August.

Delivered by Harmonize Mobility and Trip Convergence, the workshop aims to prepare city leaders, transportation and land use planners, entrepreneurs and future thinking citizens for short and long-range evolutionary impacts of ride hailing, mobility-as-a-service (MaaS), and vehicle automation.

“Transportation in our cities is on the verge of an extraordinary revolution,” the workshop organisers say.

“New ride services such as Uber are growing, while vehicle connectivity and automation technology are rapidly developing. But with rumours and speculation filling the air, city leaders and planners face a minefield of contradictory predictions and extraordinary promises for the future of transportation.”

The workshop involves presentations and group discussions.

The first one, Preparing Cities for a Transportation Revolution – Auckland, is on August 2, 9am-4pm, hosted by Beca.

Beca also hosts workshops in Hamilton on August 8, Tauranga on August 9, New Plymouth on August 13, Palmerston North on August 14, Wellington on August 17, and Christchurch on August 21.

Others are held in Nelson on August 20, Dunedin on August 22 and Queenstown on August 23.

Australia has workshops in Sydney on August 27, Melbourne on August 29 and Brisbane on August 31.
