Work on Lyttelton Tunnel spans this week

Lyttelton Tunnel’s overnight work, which restricts the tunnel to one-way operation from 9pm to 6am or overnight, will continue for the duration of July 11 to 15, with short delays anticipated after 9pm.

Other NZ Transport Agency projects under way in Lyttelton Tunnel in July include the replacement of the centre line smart studs (illuminated cat’s eyes) for the full length of the tunnel, cleaning and replacement of the tunnel lighting and installation of air quality monitoring equipment.

By coordinating these works the agency is able to save a further seven nights of closure, says the agency’s journey manager Lee Wright.

“Thanks to everyone for their patience and planning around these short delays while the one-way system operates this week.”
