The NZ Transport Agency is urging motorists to heed speed limits and take extra care during maintenance on the Omanawa River Bridge on State Highway 29 through the Kaimai Ranges.
The speed limit on the bridge over the Wairoa River is reduced to 30kmh for two to three weeks from March 13.
While road users cannot see the workers doing maintenance under the bridge, the lower speed limit is to minimise bridge vibrations and ensure the work’s effectiveness, the agency says.
The highway links the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions.
NZTA thanks motorists for their patience during the work and apologises for any inconvenience.
Motorists can get real time information from nzta.govt.nz/traffic or 0800 4 HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49).
