Waitomo Petroleum is urging customers to get on social media and help slash the price at the pump.
The company has launched the campaing which marks the opening of its new Mystery Creek fuel stop on August 15.
People can visit the company’s Facebook page where every like, share, tagged friend and comment on the campaign helps lower the petrol price at the station from 12pm opening day to 12pm August 17.
The new site is on the corner of Ohaupo and Airport Road and features petrol and diesel pumps plus a separate area for heavy vehicles which will have access to high flow pumps.
Both areas have plenty of space for maneuvering. The fuel available is 91, 95, diesel and Go Clear (Diesel Emission Fluid).
Waitomo managing director Jimmy Ormsby says prices are always competitive and the 100% Kiwi-owned company is constantly looking for innovative solutions for customers.
“Right now the biggest problem people face is the price. We’re excited to be expanding our fuel stop network so we thought this was the best way to celebrate and give customers what they actually want – cheaper fuel.
“All our new pumps also feature Vapour Recovery technology at the dispenser nozzle which is still very new here in New Zealand.
“While you’re dispensing fuel into your tank, the vapour is recovered by a vacuum unit so there are no nasty fumes. It is then condensed and returned back into the fuel stop tanks.
“This technology doesn’t reduce the amount of petrol our customers are dispensing – it’s simply capturing the vapour that would have escaped into the atmosphere or been inhaled which is much better for the environment and your health. Every new fuel stop Waitomo builds now features this technology,” Ormsby says.
“Opening our Mystery Creek Fuel Stop is a significant milestone for us. The location is ideal for people commuting in and out of Hamilton or driving to places like Te Awamutu and Cambridge. I’m excited to see how many people jump onto our Facebook page and how far they can collectively push the price of fuel down.”
Waitomo recently celebrated 70 years in business after being founded by Ormsby’s grandfather, Desmond, on the principles of honesty and integrity. The company’s motto is “Kiwis fueling Kiwis” and the company now has over 70 fuel stops and service stations across Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, Hawkes Bay and Manawatu-Whanganui.
