Automotive industry representation on the Intelligent Transport Systems New Zealand (ITS) board has increased with the appointment of David Vinsen.
The Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association chief executive says it is an opportunity to participate at a strategic level in the development of intelligent transport in New Zealand.
“We are interested in the significant challenges likely to affect our industry. We want to be informed of the changes as early as possible and participate in the changes around them.”
Vehicles will play an important part in the future of transport, but it’s different to the way it operates at the moment, with automation and other challenges ahead, Vinsen says.
“I regard it as a representation for the wider industry as well as the association,” he says.
“We hope to be an active contributor and participant. We also bring some governance experience to the table.
“We’re going in there with a fresh approach.”
