Truck manufacturer Scania has released a new range of models in New Zealand for the first time.
Among those is the new generation S-series cab, the biggest truck in the range, which was recently on show at the Mystery Creek Fieldays.
Equipped with a 620 horsepower V8 diesel engine the vehicle has 33,200kg GVM and up to 60,000kg GCM.
It features a sleeper cab with a flat floor and is the first truck in the world to offer side curtain airbags
It was awarded ‘International Truck of the Year 2017’ shortly after its international release by a jury of 25 European journalists.
CablePrice commercial vehicle national sales manager Mike Davidson says the truck can be used in a variety of applications.
“The Scania range is very versatile so you can really match the combinations and configurations.”
The S-series will work mostly for linehaul operations but there has been a lot of interest from livestock operators also, Davidson says.
The truck is part of a new generation launch by Scania including the P,G, and R-series cabs.
Scania is introducing the new models after ten years of development and more than two billion euros in investment – the largest in the company’s history.
The new trucks are focused on the long and medium haul markets (S-, R- and G-series), the urban distribution (P-series) and the new XT bulk construction materials handling range.
