Mainfreight has opened a new 55,000 square metre warehouse within Moorebank Intermodal Terminal in south-western Sydney.
The new facility combines Mainfreight’s warehousing and wharf operations under one roof and includes 70,000 racked pallet spaces.
The warehouse is located 32km from Port Botany and has rail connection. Wharf operations have direct access to the port via the rail system, significantly reducing container freight transit times.
A temperature-controlled area for 35,000 pallet spaces was specifically built for temperature sensitive freight such as pharmaceuticals.
The facility is equipped to store and handle a wide range of hazardous and retail dangerous goods. It was designed with a dangerous goods bunker and cages built to meet regulations and standards.
The facility also features autonomous mobile robotics (AMR) designed to operate within a designated grid or pick path environment, picking up shelves of products without human involvement.
