The USA-based United Auto Workers (UAW) union has formed a task force with carmakers General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler (FCA) to better protect factory and warehouse workers against Covid-19.

The task force is coordinating stricter visitor screening, increased cleaning and sanitising of common areas and touch points, and implementing safety protocols for people with potential exposure to the virus and those with flu-like symptoms.

It will focus on social distancing, break and cleaning schedules, health and safety education, health screening, food service and other areas that can improve protection for employees.
