Transport minister Phil Twyford will be returning to the Road Transport Forum’s annual conference this year.
The event is being held at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin from September 26 to 27.
Twyford gave his first public address as transport minister at the 2017 conference.
In that speech, he said “change is necessary” and emphasised the need to invest more in “multimodal” forms of transport, particularly in Auckland.
Road Transport Forum chief executive Ken Shirley says he is pleased the transport minister will return to the conference.
“It is fair to say that some of the decisions made by this Government will have a big impact on the road transport industry.

“However, it is a credit to Twyford and the Government that he is keen to front and present us his reasons for some of the far-reaching policy decisions that have been made in the transport and infrastructure areas since he took office,” Shirley says.
Other speakers at this year’s event include former ANZ chief economist Cameron Bagrie, Business NZ’s Paul Mackay and rugby commentator Paul Allison will provide a change topic with a collection of sporting stories. Plenty of other guest speakers will also take the stage.
