Rangiora-based 4D Freight is today carrying a 20-foot shipping container of donated Christmas presents from Otago to more than 650 children in Kaikoura.
Otago residents have helped ensure a Christmas party being held in Kaikoura this afternoon for the local children is one to remember, and it includes bouncy castles, fairy areas, and Santa’s grotto.
Every child will receive at least two gifts from “Arohanui from Otago” a project run by the School of Social Services at Otago Polytechnic.
The Otago Polytechnic gifts went to Casebrook Intermediate in Christchurch, where two pupils, Kohana Bourke and Mia Ormsby, organised the central collection point.
Kohana’s father Brian Bourke owns 4D Freight, which is transporting the Christmas presents to the Kaikoura Chrismas party,
The School of Social Services operations coordinator, Erin Marlow says she is amazed at the generosity of the Otago public.
“We’ve collected more than five hundred gifts for Kaikoura kids this Christmas. Santa will hand them out at a community Christmas party today,” says Marlow.
