The TMC Trailers Ltd Trucking 2016 event is a one-day show on October 8 at Wigram Airforce Museum where the public is welcome to participate in the day of a life of a professional truck driver.
The event starts at 9.30am, concludes at 5 pm and entry is by gold coin donation, with all proceeds going directly to two children’s charities.
The truck show and shine is the event’s main drawcard, featuring real life working trucks lined up side by side at the museum.
According to the organisers, the big rigs on display are polished so well it’s hard to tell whether they are brand new or not.
“Last time 269 trucks entered the event, but this time, we may beat that. It’s a spectacle that you simply won’t want to miss” says Dave Boyce, chief executive of NZ Trucking Association.
So far lining up in the new show off section are truck brands MAN, Western Star, Hino, Mercedes, Fuso, Freightliner, Scania and others.
Other highlights include new entry Canterbury Civil Contractors’ National excavator competition, the featuring of class trucks, and job opportunities and training options.
“Competition is ramping up between truck drivers to find the ‘Tarping Champion for 2016,’ a new attraction to the show,” says Boyce.
The new kids’ zone features a heavy trucks’ giant sandpit; a road designed for kids on scooters to test road safety skills; a Fonterra paint by numbers giant canvas; chill out space with colouring-in pictures; and Doug the Digger.
Companies sponsoring the show include Heavy Trucks, CTS, Navman, VTNZ, Fonterra, Hino, TR Group Master drive, Cable Price, Eroad, Candrive, Bridgestone, Caltex, McKeown and more
Entry proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House SI and Child Cancer Canterbury, along with smaller charities on the day.
Some space and sponsorship opportunities are still available. For further information call Carol McGeady on 0800 338 338 or 021 252 7252 or visit www.christchurchtruckingshow.co.nz.
