Despite pouring rain from when the event opened and closed, the 2016 Nelson Truck Show fundraiser for Stoke School went ahead last weekend.
Organiser Melanie Smith from Stoke School PTA told the Nelson Mail, the torrential rains and boggy ground at the A & P Showgrounds deterred many potential visitors.
At the end of the event longtime supporter, Solly’s Transport towed out the trucks that become stuck in the boggy ground, while earlier in the day the Speights Alehouse cooked a hot breakfast for the truck drivers.
Smith says there was unwavering support from the school’s pupils, their families, and the local community, and they will host the event again next year, with their fingers crossed for better weather.
