Christchurch International Airport Limited (CIAL) is looking at the feasibility of creating a new trade supplier precinct called Harvard Park to encompass automotive, farming, and office supplies, as well as a petrol station.

More than 6000 people work at the Airport and it’s surrounding commercial property precincts, Dakota Park (freight and logistics), Spitfire Square (convenience retail), and Mustang Park (rental vehicles).

According to Stuff, Harvard Park would be in the block bounded by Orchard Rd, Russley and Harewood Rds. If it went ahead, stage one would cover 6.6 hectares.

Stuff reports that CIAL chief executive Malcolm Johns says the project was very much in the planning stage, even though property development is one of the airport companies primary goals.

“We won’t do it if the investment doesn’t stack up,” Johns told Stuff.

The airport company currently has $1.2 billion in assets, including two runways, the airport terminal and 120 investment properties according to Stuff.
