A truck parts manager has been convicted for defrauding more than $15,000 by charging onto client invoices.
Judge Stephen Harrop convicted Hayden James Kerwin, 36, at the Blenheim District Court on Monday, the Marlborough Express reports.
Kerwin was responsible for ordering parts for vehicle repairs at Truck Stops in Riverlands, near Blenheim.
He would order parts from external suppliers such as Repco and while doing so he also ordered goods and services for himself using the company account.
Kerwin would then add small items such as wheel bearings to client invoices, so the clients were paying for his purchases, the Marlborough Express reports.
He ordered $15,273.84 worth of products, including 70 products from Repco worth $12,170.95 between July last year and April.
He also ordered several battery-powered tools from New Zealand Safety worth $1600, and tools from Gough TWL worth $900, which he also sold.
He sold the products by word-of-mouth and through a Facebook page.
Kerwin admitted four counts of obtaining by deception and was remanded on bail to September 3.
