The death of a truck driver at a Tauranga quarry is under investigation by WorkSafe.
Emergency services were called to Tauranga Quarries Ltd in Welcome Bay on Monday afternoon when a truck and trailer rolled, the Bay of Plenty Times reports.
The driver worked for J Swap Contractors.
Police say a truck and trailer unit rolled while emptying gravel.
“A Serious Crash Unit investigation will be conducted, and WorkSafe [New Zealand] have been advised,” police told the Times in a statement.
Fire and Emergency communications shift manager Paul Radden says firefighting rescue equipment was needed during the incident.
“Specialist crews went out there with rescue equipment to assist with the incident.”
