car-on-fireNorth Canterbury demolition contractor Paul Flanagan says a third arson attack on his truck fleet since 2012 now leaves him with the worry that he will not get insurance again.

Five trucks belonging to Paul Flanagan Contracting Limited are victims of an arson attack on the companies’ yard in Woodend, North Canterbury.

According to Stuff, Flanagan was overseas during the time of the arson attack and he told The Press he was unhappy with the police and his insurer.

“Nobody’s been around to see me whatsoever. Nothing at all. The insurance, the coppers, nobody. They’ve not even been around and interviewed me. It’s pants isn’t it. It’s just the way your country acts I think, just useless,” he says.

Stuff understands the insurer of the trucks has hired a private investigation firm to look into the incident.

Detective Aaron George told Stuff the investigation was difficult but ongoing.

Flanagan says the company had plenty of work, but he is waiting for new trucks to arrive.

“It’s finding the trucks,” he says. “You can’t get them off the shelf.”
