The buoyancy of the market for new and used trucks and light commercials is reflected by the number of vehicles that continue to arrive on New Zealand wharves.

New truck (over 3500kg GVM) arrivals of 241 units for November 2016 brings the year to date tally to 3120, not far off the full year total of 3434 arrivals for the 2015 calendar year.

Used imported trucks (over 3500kg GVM) saw 122 arrivals in November 2016, for a year to date total of 988 units which exceeds the full calendar year of 2015 figure being 955 units.

New light commercial (under 3500kg GVM) arrivals of 1853 were almost the lowest for 2016 barring the 1609 entries in January, and the year to date tally of 26,889 is significantly lower than the calendar year 2015 total of 33,693 units.

The arrival figure of used light commercials (under 3500kg GVM) tallied 737 units in November 2016, the third highest month for the year, and year to date the figure of 6833 units exceeds the total for the calendar year 2015 of 5597.

Used imported passenger cars are on track for another record year, as the November arrival’s total of 13,436 units is the fourth highest number recorded this year.

Year to date more than 140,817 used cars have arrived in New Zealand wharves. Based on a monthly average of more than 12,000 units means the market is highly likely to see more than 150,000 used arrivals in 2016 breaking last year’s record total of 149,974.

New passenger car arrivals of 11,070 units are the second highest recorded monthly total of the year, and the year to date figure of 101,143 units at November 30, 2016, exceeds the full calendar year figure for 2015 of 99,783 new car arrivals.
