Welcome to the June edition of TransportTalk magazine.

It’s that time of year again when companies and organisations from across the country meet at the Mystery Creek annual Fieldays – the largest agri event in the Southern Hemisphere.

In this issue we look at what brands have in store for the 50th anniversary event. There are plenty of special deals available, with some showcasing light commercial vehicles to turn a few heads.

Vehicle Inspection New Zealand (VINZ) has opened a revamped site in Palmerston North with a focus on heavy vehicles, while Mark Ebolo has taken the role of new managing director for Isuzu Trucks.

He was recently appointed to replace Kristian Aquilina who is picking up the role of Holden’s marketing director in Australia. Ebolo brings a wealth of experience to the industry having joined Holden in 2001.

A farewell is also given to Clive Jones who has been MTD Trucks national sales manager for Volvo Trucks and Buses for nine years. Jones is leaving the job in August to take up a new position as vice-president sales for Volvo Trucks Australia.

This edition also features wheel and tyre services. We speak with Kiwi Truck Tyres general manager Matt Keller about the products and services available for fleet operators. Keller tells us about the range of tyres available for different segments and an overview of the manufacturing process.

A new wheel and hoist equipment range from Snap-on is also featured. Meanwhile, the opening of a new Waste Management tyre recycling facility brings good news to the industry as it’s set to tackle up to 30,000 tonnes of waste each year.

Plus, new Arocs trucks arrive for Carr & Haslam, Ports of Auckland goes electric, and trucks are set to undergo ANCAP crash testing.

And don’t forget to take a look at our regular columns and statistics pages that keep you up-to-date with the latest industry trends.
