Transport Well New Zealand Charitable Trust has announced its inaugural transport industry conference, aimed at bringing together operators, regulators, industry experts and drivers to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
The 2026 Teletrac Navman Transport Industry Conference will be held on August 22 at Majestic on Durham in Christchurch, with Teletrac Navman securing naming rights as the Trust’s Innovation Partner.
Organisers say the one-day event will focus on practical discussions and industry collaboration under the theme “One Goal. One Day. Real Solutions.”
The conference comes as transport businesses continue to navigate rising operating costs, evolving regulatory requirements and increasing customer expectations while maintaining safety, compliance and driver wellbeing standards.
According to the Trust, delegates will hear directly from regulators, industry experts and transport operators about the issues affecting businesses now and into the future.
Teletrac Navman says supporting industry collaboration is a key reason for its involvement.
“Ensuring transport operators stay informed on key industry issues and have a platform to share their perspectives is vital to the sector’s continued growth,” the company says.
“Teletrac Navman is proud to support opportunities that foster collaboration and keep the industry moving forward.”
Transport Well New Zealand trustee Carol McGeady says affordability was a key consideration when planning the event.
“Our goal has always been to connect the industry. We wanted to remove the financial barriers that often prevent operators and drivers from attending high-quality industry events,” McGeady says.
“Holding the event on Saturday enables more to attend. Thanks to the support of our partners and donations to the trust, we’ve been able to offer a conference of this calibre for just $75 per person, something virtually unheard of.”
McGeady says the conference is designed for anyone involved in or connected to the transport sector.
“Anyone involved in transport, or connected to the industry, will gain valuable knowledge from the day.
“More importantly, they’ll have the opportunity to hear first-hand about the changes that will affect their businesses, ask questions, and contribute to the conversations shaping our industry’s future.”
The Trust says Christchurch was selected as the venue for the inaugural event to improve accessibility for the South Island transport sector and help minimise travel costs during challenging economic conditions.
Conference registrations are now open, with tickets priced at $75 per person.
