The transport portfolio remains unchanged following a ministerial reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, with Chris Bishop continuing in the role alongside his infrastructure responsibilities.
Bishop also retains housing and RMA reform and takes on the role of Attorney-General.
Rail remains with New Zealand First leader Winston Peters, while Shane Jones retains regional development and resources.
Simeon Brown picks up the energy portfolio, signalling a stronger focus on fuel supply and energy security amid global pressures. Todd McClay retains agriculture, forestry and trade and investment.
Luxon says the reshuffle reflects the need to respond to global economic challenges.
“New Zealanders are facing economic challenges brought on by conflict in the Middle East and its effect on fuel supply across the world,” Luxon says.
“The past few weeks have underlined how important energy security is.”
The changes take effect from April 7.
