Trades and services, administration and office support, and information and communication technology were the top three industries for employment opportunities on during June 2017 according to recruitment website SEEK.
Transport, logistics, and manufacturing were also a solid performer, at a national level it was the fourth largest advertising industry on SEEK and was among the fastest growing, with job ads up 36% says the recruitment website.
SEEK says its latest data has revealed there were 11.4% more new job ads on its recruitment website this June than 12 months ago.
“The New Zealand labour market has continued to gain strength, with all the main regions enjoying job ad growth on SEEK this June,” says SEEK general manager Janet Faulding.
“In Auckland advertising on SEEK was up 8.3% year on year, while in Wellington and Canterbury job ads grew 6.2% and 5.7% year on year respectively,” she says.
“Fuelling this advertising growth on SEEK across the transport and logistics industry was demand for warehouse, storage and distribution employees who were up 33% year on year,” says Faulding.
“In both Auckland and Canterbury, manufacturing, transport and logistics were the second top industry for job opportunities on SEEK this June, with advertising up 28% year on year in Auckland and 78% in Canterbury,” she concluded.
