Heavy equipment parts and service company TransDiesel has purchased Nelson firm Translog Limited.
Translog was formed in 1992 as a parts and service company operating in the Nelson and Marlborough region. Rowan and Julie Coutts purchased the business from the original owners in 1996.
Translog relocated to its current site in 2006 with the construction of a large purpose-built workshop in Brightwater alongside State Highway 6.
The company developed into a leading construction and forestry maintenance business and as a trading dealership for TransDiesel, held service agencies for Volvo and Yanmar construction equipment.
TransDiesel have taken over the business complete with all staff and operational management and will continue to operate from the existing site in Nelson. TransDiesel has a network of branches around the country.
TransDiesel chief executive Mike McKessar says the acquisition adds more strength.
“We have had a long standing relationship with Translog as our sub dealer in the Nelson and Marlborough region and we are confident that with the on-going growth in that region our purchase will strengthen our presence there.
“Our purchase of Translog shows continued confidence in the industry and the value we place on expanding our regional service capability,” McKessar says.
