Jointly TR Group and the RTF will offer a $10,000 prize pool for New Zealand’s top truck driver as part of the agreement.

“TR Group has been working with Kiwi businesses and their drivers for more than 20 years and we know what’s needed to make operating heavy vehicles a success,” says TR Group managing director Andrew Carpenter.

“This sponsorship shows TR Group’s on going support for the industry plus our desire to support safe driving.

“It also shows our commitment to lessen environmental impact and to improve vehicle safety throughout the country…We are keen to ensure it remains a sustainable ongoing annual event,” says Carpenter.

“This new initiative will recognise and reward the professionalism of commercial road freight drivers,” says RTF chief executive officer Ken Shirley.

“I am sure that the support and involvement of TR Group will play a major part in establishing the Championship as a prestigious national award which will help raise standards of driving and professionalism within the road transport industry.”
