Toyota Gazoo Racing New Zealand is backing its sustainability ambitions with hydrogen-supported heavy transport for its 2026 championship campaign.
The motorsport outfit says TR Group is supporting the team this season with two advanced dual-fuel (diesel and hydrogen) tractor units, used to move its Mobile HQ and parts transporter around the country.
The dual-fuel technology enables a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared with conventional diesel-only trucks, while maintaining the range and reliability required to support a nationwide race calendar.
The move forms part of a broader sustainability push by Toyota Gazoo Racing NZ, which includes the use of sustainable race fuel that the team says can reduce emissions by up to 70% compared with traditional fuels.
The team says its environmental focus extends beyond the racetrack, with an emphasis on cleaner heavy transport solutions as it travels across New Zealand.
