Freight and logistics company Toll is helping students launch their careers in the industry.
Week-long inductions were held last week in Auckland, Melbourne and Singapore for recent graduates who were welcomed to the company.
They heard from senior managers across the business and took part in skills development workshops.
The programme was established in 2017 and takes place over two years.
Graduates participate in several rotations that expose them to different areas of the business, including global logistics, global forwarding and global express.
Two of the Australian graduates will relocate to work in Tokyo with Toll parent company, Japan Post, while four Japan Post trainees have also joined the program.
Bryony Smith, who studied marketing and international business at The University of Auckland, has joined the program with Toll in New Zealand.
Smith says she’s excited for what’s ahead.
“I can’t wait to get stuck into the rotations and learn as much as possible.
“I’m looking forward to taking part in some of the operational sides of Toll.
“It will be great to get a deeper understanding of the different divisions and some practical, hands-on experience,” Smith says.
Christie Hill is also among 27 new graduates enrolled in Toll’s 2018 graduate programme.
It’s the global nature of logistics that makes her excited to join the industry, she says.
“You learn skills and processes that are applicable all over the world and across multiple industries. Every day I meet so many diverse and highly skilled people.
“The Toll programme, although only new, is one of the best I’ve seen.
“It is so exciting to be able to get such a thorough exposure to so many areas within a company,” Hill says.
