Toll_Blue_Scope_TrucksToll New Zealand is offering a reward for any information in regards to the recent spate of graffiti that taggers have sprayed on to vehicles parked overnight in it’s Hastings freight depot.

The depot holds a number of company-owned as well as privately-owned truck and trailer units, which have been repeatedly vandalised in the past three weeks.

Toll New Zealand Group national manager Mark Allan told Hawke’s Bay Today that the graffiti would be a massive financial hit to the depot.

“I think it could cost us over $100,000…If we’ve got to rebrand each truck, it costs as much as $30-35,000 per truck and trailer unit and we have ten different units.”

Allan says he feels disappointed that a level of comfort hasn’t been provided for the owner-drivers, and a few of them have taken it personally,

Allan says the depot’s location beside the railway line made it a very difficult site to secure, but the depot would have a review with a security company next week.

Police have been informed and Allan is offering an unspecified amount of money for any information that might lead to the conviction of the vandals.

Owner-driver Rod McCann told Hawke’s Bay Today that he couldn’t fathom the the taggers’ behaviour.

“They go berserk, it’s all over the trucks. We’ve got an image to present and they just keep defacing it. You just want to catch them – it’s not their property.”
