Logistics company Team Global Express has appointed Stewart Smith as the new chief executive for the firm’s New Zealand operations.
Smith joins Team Global Express with over 30 years’ experience leading businesses through growth and transformation.
He has a strong background in commercial and supply chain, and has worked in several omni-channel businesses, including iconic retail companies in the UK such at Tesco, Nisa and Halfords and more recently at The Warehouse Group in New Zealand.
Team Global Express Group chief executive Christine Holgate says Smith’s appointment comes at a key moment for the company.
“We have a vision to be at the cutting-edge of the transport and logistics industry in both Aotearoa and Australia and it is critical we have the right people in all parts of our business including our leadership team to achieve our ambitions,” Holgate says.
“Stewart is a dynamic, customer centric, strategic leader who has a track record of mobilising teams to deliver better customer and business outcomes. I am looking forward to seeing our team thrive and deliver success for our customers under his leadership,” Holgate says.
With the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 kicking off on July 20 in New Zealand with the Football Ferns v Norway at Eden Park, Smith says he is looking forward to showcasing Team Global Express as a key logistics partner.
“I am thrilled to join Team Global Express at such a dynamic time in the business and lead the New Zealand team as we pursue our vision of being at the cutting edge of sustainable logistics.
“It’s a particularly exciting time as we kick off our sponsorship as the official logistics services provider for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023,” Smith says.
“This event goes to the heart of who we are as a business. It will be the biggest global sporting event of the year and Team Global Express is proud to be the ‘team behind the teams’, providing innovative solutions to ensure the tournament never stops, just as we do every day for our customers,” he adds.
Team Global Express will support warehouse and venue operations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in New Zealand and Australia, as well as logistics services at all venues across both countries.
