Heavy equipment distributor TDX has launched Volvo Construction Equipment’s new-generation K-Series wheel loader range in New Zealand, introducing updated technology aimed at improving productivity, fuel efficiency, safety and operator comfort.
The initial range includes five models – the L150, L180, L200 High Lift, L220 and flagship L260 – with updates across hydraulics, digital technology and the operator environment.
TDX Volvo product manager Andrew Falloon says the K-Series represents one of the biggest advances in Volvo wheel loader technology in recent years.
“The K Series represents a major evolution of the Volvo wheel loader platform,” says Falloon.
“Volvo has taken everything customers value about these machines and enhanced it through smarter technology, improved hydraulics, better fuel efficiency and a focus on making the operator’s job easier.
“The result is a machine that can move more material, use less fuel and provide a safer, more comfortable working environment.”

The new range features load-sensing hydraulics designed to improve attachment response and increase boom lift and lowering speeds, delivering faster cycle times.
New technology includes Auto Bucket Fill for consistent bucket loading and automatic bucket levelling, which returns the bucket to the optimum position after dumping or curling to reduce operator workload.
Volvo has also updated its Smart Control system so the fuel-efficient engine mode is activated by default at start-up. The loaders are compatible with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel.
The machines continue to use Volvo’s integrated powertrain, combining the engine, transmission, axles and hydraulics. Volvo says its OptiShift technology and Reverse By Braking system help reduce cycle times while improving drivability and extending component life.
The cab has also been redesigned, with the latest Volvo Co-Pilot interface providing access to machine functions through a new display. Other updates include improved storage, revised armrests, USB charging points and optional heated and ventilated seats.
An optional Comfort Drive Control system allows operators to steer using a single lever to reduce fatigue during long shifts.
Safety upgrades include improved visibility and lighting, along with optional Volvo Smart View, which provides a 360-degree view around the machine via the Co-Pilot display. An updated Collision Mitigation System can detect obstacles when reversing at speeds from 0.5km/h.

TDX sales and marketing general manager Joe Gradwell says the new loaders have been developed for the demands of New Zealand’s quarrying, civil construction and infrastructure sectors.
“New Zealand’s quarrying, civil construction and infrastructure sectors demand machines that deliver reliability, efficiency and productivity every day,” says Gradwell.
“The new Volvo K Series Loader has been developed around those exact requirements. It combines world-class engineering with practical features that help customers achieve more from their investment, whether that is moving aggregate in a quarry, supporting major earthworks projects or improving efficiency across a mixed fleet.”
The K-Series is also supported by Volvo’s digital fleet management tools, including Load Assist with onboard weighing, Operator Coaching, tyre pressure monitoring, Site Operations and the CareTrack telematics platform for remote machine monitoring.
