The New Zealand Transport Agency advises that State Highway 6 is closed at South Westland’s Jamie Creek.
The closure, as a result of a washout, is near Lake Paringa between Haast and Fox Glacier. There are also rocks on the road at Potters Creek, two kilometres north of Lake Paringa.
Drivers should check the agency’s traffic and travel map or social media sites for updates as to the highway’s reopening.
Contractors are currently on site with no cell coverage.
The information came through early yesterday afternoon.
