Work to repair the slip at Twin Bridges, between Nukutawhiti and Awarua, will get underway on March 2 and will continue until the end of May.

NZTA is advising drivers to allow an extra 10 minutes for the journey.

NZTA system manager Steve Mutton says the work is also dependant on whether conditions.

“The repairs are part of our on-going work to maintain Northland’s state highway, and they are necessary to ensure the safety of our customers on this steep, windy part of the network,” he says.

There will be manual traffic management in place, with temporary traffic signals and speed limits.

The slip repair work includes site clearing, retaining wall construction, anchor installation, rock wall construction, drainage installation and road surface construction.
