Scania is helping New Zealand truck drivers hit the right notes with a specially curated playlist for the South Island.
It follows the success of the first Scania Soundscapes playlist that launched in 2020 covering the Auckland to Wellington route.
Now a new route has been released for South Island truckies to sing along to as they experience a specially curated soundtrack for their hauls from Christchurch to Greymouth.
Scania Soundscapes provides truck drivers with playlists that match the different routes around New Zealand.
The playlists are inspired by the drive, landscape, feeling, roads and places that make up the dots the roads connect.
Scania NZ sales director Deon Stephens says the Soundscapes project has been a lot of fun and a way for Scania to add some entertainment to truck drivers’ journeys around the country.
“We’ve had great feedback on the first playlist for Auckland to Wellington so we’re excited to add to the offering with a South Island playlist.
“Some songs will be familiar and some not so. We’re hoping it’ll be a bit different and a bit interesting, that maybe you’ll hear something new that you connect with, or something that you know and love and haven’t heard for a while. It won’t sound like the radio that’s for sure.”
The Soundscapes Route 2 playlist kicks off with one of the most iconic NZ hip hop songs of all time – Scribe’s ‘Not Many’.
Hailing from Christchurch, the anthem captures the essence of our country’s unique sound and style, making it the perfect choice to set the tone for the latest playlist.
The first album of the new playlist takes you from Littleton Port to Riccarton, with seven carefully curated songs that perfectly match the twists and turns of the road, Scania says.
“It may be a small playlist, but it’s packed with punch and ready to be your ultimate listening companion,” it says.
Albums continue with Riccarton to Springfield, Springfield to Otira, Otira to Kumara Junction and Kumara Junction to Greymouth.
Scania has received more than 7000 visitors to the Soundscapes playlist page to date.
