Consultation has opened on the costs of purchasing a road user charges label – but only the processing fee, not the charges themselves.
Consultation information is available here: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/consultation/certification-and-ruc-admin-fee-review/docs/ruc-admin-fee-review-2013-consultation-document.pdf
The proposed changes see the cost of transactions rise slightly when purchased online or through a call centre, to reflect the ‘actual cost’ of making such transactions. The original rate for online transactions was set low to encourage take-up of the service.
The new fees are $6.20 for face-to-face transactions, which is a reduction of 58 cents, digital self-service transactions rise to $2.95 to reflect the cost and credit card transaction costs, and phone, fax and email transactions rise to $7.50.
There are other tweaks to RUC charges included in the consultation.
The changes come as part of a wider review of NZ Transport Agency charges, including WoF and CoF label costs, and the costs for registering as an inspection provider or inspector.
