A focus on people, policy, productivity, and profits will be amongst the highlights of the Road Transport Forum (RTF) annual conference being held at the Pullman hotel in Auckland from July 17 to 19.
It is the first time that the RTF has held such an event in the city of sails.
The four theme strands of people, policy, productivity, and profits are covered by presentations by speakers during the conference as well as workshop sessions.
For the ‘people’ strand there is a focus on attracting more women into the business with a Women in Road Transport breakfast on Friday July 18 which will be presented by the the chair of the Australian trucking association, Noelene Watson, and the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Jo Goodhew.
There will also be a full conference session on the challenges of diversity by Jackie Carroll, who is a director of Tranzliquid Ltd.
HR specialist Ann Andrews will also present a people-focussed session called “boiled frogs and faulty guillotines.”
The policy aspect of the RTF conference is covered on two levels, with the Minister of Transport and the transport spokespeople for the Greens and Labour covering the political aspects.
Officials from the ministry of transport and the NZTA will then cover the government policy statement on transport, the role of HPMVs in handling the freight increase, and the Freight Demand Study which predicts future freight growth over the next few decades.
These bracket both the policy and the productivity themes.
A former CFO, and now international speaker Geoffrey Vautier will speak to the profits theme during the conference and he will also chair the profits workshop.
A partners programme is available with a day trip to Matakana including lunch at Plume Restaurant on the Thursday and a vineyard tour including lunch at Villa Maria the following day.
One of the highlights of the RTF conference will be the Maritime dinner at Shed 10 on the Auckland waterfront which will feature the Mermaids Dance Band.
For the first time RTF is offering a discount for people who have never been to Conference (or not for the past five years) of $399 compared to $475 (all plus GST) for a standard registration and the option of online registration through the dedicated conference website .
A smartphone event app will also be available to delegates which will display sponsors and exhibitors’ details together with floor plans, location maps and programme details, enabling instant contact, feedback and communications.
