A total of 353 people died in road crashes in 2019 which was down from 377 deaths the previous year.
Labour MP Iain Lees-Galloway says “this is still a staggering loss of life”.
“As we enter the new decade, my thoughts are with the families, friends and communities of the 353 people who lost their lives in road crashes last year,” he says.
“I want to acknowledge and thank all our emergency response professionals who deal first-hand with the trauma on our roads and work to save lives on a daily basis.
The official 2019/2020 holiday period began on December 24 and ended on January 3. A total of six people were killed on the roads during the period.
