Rivian Automotive has received full regulatory certifications and can begin delivering its EVs to US customers.
The EVs (R1T ute and R1S SUV) are fully certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and are ready for sale in all 50 states, according to the company.
Winter testing of Rivian’s EVs was done in New Zealand a few months ago.
Rivian founder and chief executive RJ Scaringe tweeted the company has built its first production unit of the R1T pickup (ute) for a customer.
It plans to deliver 100 units in September and is also seeking a US$80 billion valuation, Bloomberg reported in August.
Bloomberg adds Rivian has raised more than US$10 billion from investors, including Amazon and Ford.
R1S deliveries are planned by Rivian later this year.
