Renault NZ is teaming up with local transport refrigeration experts Transcold to kit out its Master vans as online sales and home deliveries start picking up pace.
The Master chiller van will be available in mid wheelbase (11m3) and long wheelbase (13m3) options with the latter accommodating up to three pallets.
Transcold has made a significant investment, importing chiller kits from the United Kingdom and due to land in the country shortly.
“These kits are specifically designed for the Renault Master van – one of the top selling vans in the UK – and have been operating successfully for many years,” Transcold director John Oates says.
“The actual refrigeration unit is made in the UK and is fully supported in New Zealand by Transcold’s nationwide network of refrigeration engineers.”
Once out of level 4 lockdown, Transcold and Renault will be able to start work on multiple vehicles and have stock ready for delivery.
Renault New Zealand general manager Sam Waller says deliveries will be quick as the ‘off the shelf’ solution means the vans can be completed within a two to three-week timeframe.
“Typically, refrigerated vans are custom fitted out and can take up to 12 weeks to complete.
“We’ve already received our first order from Future Cuisine, a live seafood supplier, and they can’t wait to get their hands on their new Master Chiller,” Waller says.
With their local fitment completed, the Renault Master chiller vans will maintain a temperature of 0- 4°c and can have a 240v standby making them ideal for supermarkets, butchers, grocers, seafood specialists and anyone requiring temperature-controlled delivery.
Renault Master vans come with a factory backed 350,000 kilometre/3-year warranty for the vehicle. Transcold give the chiller fitout and refrigeration unit a 12 month / unlimited kilometre warranty.
Customers are also supported with 12-month/30,000-kilometre service intervals and a new expanding nationwide dealer network.
“It’s not just about having the right and well-priced product, you need the right people too,” Waller says.
Renault NZ started its campaign to appoint new dealers in mid-2019 and since then, has appointed Mike’s Cars in Dunedin, Morrison Cars in Sockburn Christchurch, Duncan and Ebbett in Tauranga, Central Motor Group in Taupo and 4Guys in Hamilton.
“2020 is challenging everyone, and Renault is here to help business get moving.
“Our dealers are positive, the product is exceptional, and we are linking arms with our customers and suppliers in these tough times,” Waller says.
