The return of a stolen truck and digger has been a huge relief to a Clareville-based company, which can now focus on finishing existing work contracts.
Thieves made off with a truck and digger belonging to G & C Diggers on Monday night but a day later police on a routine patrol found the vehicle on State Highway 2 near Bayview north of Napier.
Co-owner of G & C Diggers, Christine Adams told the Wairarapa Times-Age it was good to know the company would be able to complete its contracts, thanks to the return of the stolen equipment.
“I feel relieved and really happy because it was going to be such a slow process to get another one to use,” says Adams. “We are just thankful that everyone kept an eye out.”
“It’s taken the stress out of having to get the insurance, and find something in between until we could get a new machine, so its taken that worry away.
Police found two occupants inside the vehicle, two men in their 30s, one believed to be a Masterton resident, the other thought to be from the Tararua district.
The truck was driven back to Clareville after being located by police
