Toyota New Zealand is recalling 3184 Hilux utes and Fortuner SUVs to rectify a potential  brake booster assembly problem. The affected models are Hilux and Fortuners manufactured between March 2018 and May 2019.

Toyota NZ says it’s a precautionary measure to fix a potential for the vacuum operated brake booster to leak and reduce braking assistance.

The repair will be completed free of charge by Toyota stores and will take about 3.5 hours.

Owners of the vehicles, which are traceable through registration data, will be contacted by Toyota New Zealand by letter.
