Ford New Zealand says its dealers have ample stocks of Ranger utes.
Commenting on Australian reports that stocks there are running very low at some dealerships, especially Wildtrak models with the 10-speed gearbox, a Ford NZ spokesperson says stock levels are good here.
“We have all of the stock that would have been sold during lockdown plus a boatload or two arrived during lockdown so we have ample stock at the moment,” he says.
The Australian reports say stocks there are low because the Thailand factories that build the Ranger have been closed since March 27 because of the COVID-19 virus. They were due to reopen today.
There has also been a sales surge for commercial vehicles in Australia in the wake of the pandemic.
The Ford NZ spokesperson says customers are returning to Ford showrooms, though customer traffic is well below pre-lockdown levels.
He says local demand is weighted towards commercial vehicles, and Ford is currently running specials on both the Ranger FX4 and the new Transit Custom Sport.
