Foton Trucks is another truck brand not making an appearance at the National Fieldays, but the Foton Tunland pickup will be displayed by a dealer at Mystery Creek according to Ateco Group New Zealand chief executive officer David Smitherman.
Smitherman says the distributor has sold all of its stock of Foton Trucks but is trying to get more product in from the manufacturer in time for the National Fieldays.
However, Ateco Group is launching the factory-backed right-hand-drive Ram trucks with Cummins diesel engines at the Mystery Creek event.
Smitherman says National Fieldays will be the first reveal of the new Ram trucks, and he is expecting it will make front page news.
The trucks will be imported to Australia in left-hook form, where they will be remanufactured as right hand drive on a purpose-built Melbourne production line set up by American Special Vehicles (ASV).
The pick-ups are going to be built to comply with Australian Design Rules and with full volume import approval.
The ASV-produced Rams will be the only importer covered by the approval, and will sell with a three-year, 100,000km warranty.
A model line-up, specification and pricing will be available soon, but interest can be registered at www.ramtrucks.co.nz.
