Logistics software provider PTV Logistics says its route optimisation technology has helped HelloFresh Australia and New Zealand reduce delivery kilometres and operating costs across its growing home delivery network.
The company has deployed its PTV OptiFlow platform within HelloFresh ANZ’s planning and distribution systems, with the meal-kit provider reporting reductions of up to 4% in kilometres travelled and associated operating costs.
PTV Logistics says the project demonstrates how route optimisation technology can deliver measurable efficiency gains for large-scale last-mile delivery operations.
As HelloFresh expanded its footprint across Australia and New Zealand, the company sought a solution capable of accounting for factors such as real-time traffic conditions, delivery windows, customer density and vehicle constraints to improve routing accuracy and network efficiency.
The PTV OptiFlow platform uses a dynamic routing engine that continuously recalculates delivery routes as conditions change throughout the day.
Tony Tannous, director of operations at HelloFresh ANZ, says the technology has significantly reduced the amount of manual planning required.
“Since implementing PTV OptiFlow, we’ve seen a significant reduction in planning time,” Tannous says.
“Our planners spend far less time making manual route adjustments, and we’ve observed measurable improvements in delivery reliability.
“These efficiencies allow us to maintain competitive delivery pricing for our customers, even as fuel and labour costs fluctuate.”
HelloFresh associate director of transport planning Jasper van Dooijeweert says the implementation focused on more than simply deploying new software.
“PTV Logistics acted as much more than a software vendor; they were a true partner,” he says.
“By working closely with their consultants during the implementation phase, we were able to move beyond simple A-to-B routing.
“This allowed us to integrate real-time traffic data and local routing constraints, resulting in a more resilient delivery network that consistently meets our high service standards.”
PTV Logistics vice-president international business Kamil Duracka says the results highlight the value of advanced route planning for complex delivery networks.

“HelloFresh ANZ operates one of the most demanding last-mile delivery networks in the region, and the results show what using technology for routing can do at that scale,” Duracka says.
“We’re focused on helping them keep that performance steady as the network keeps growing.”
The software platform is fully integrated into HelloFresh ANZ’s planning and distribution systems and is designed to maintain performance through seasonal demand peaks and network growth.
The rollout is being completed in stages across Australia and New Zealand, allowing the companies to refine routing models, test real-world delivery scenarios and train planning teams while minimising disruption to daily operations.
