Kenworth’s Renton plant received the award for wastewater compliance covering discharge, permit, ordinance, reporting, self-monitoring, and King County monitoring.

“We operate a comprehensive environmental stewardship programme that achieves excellent results,” says the Renton plant manager Rod Spencer.

“Our employees are focused on building quality Kenworth trucks for customers, while also keeping our environmental initiatives and goals in mind daily,” he says.

“The 2016 Gold Award recognises the Renton plant’s fruitful and continuous focus in the environmental arena,” says Spencer.

The Renton plant also currently holds the best workplace for recycling and waste reduction award presented by King County’s Solid Waste Division in 2016 for its efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Both Kenworth plants in Renton, and Chillicothe, Ohio, hold ISO 14001:2004 certification for effective environmental management systems established to help build Class 8 trucks in an environmentally responsible manner.

Kenworth produces its medium duty products at the PACCAR manufacturing facility in Saint Therese, Quebec, which also holds ISO 14001:2004 status.
