Ports of Auckland’s half-yearly net profit after tax is almost exactly the same as last year.
It has announced a $29.2m profit for the last six months, which is similar to $29.3m for the prior corresponding period.
Overall group revenue was $120.6m, up 9.1% on the same six month of the previous year.
The revenue growth reflects the inclusion of logistics operators Conlinxx and Nexus Logistics in May 2017.
Container volume (TEU) was up 3% to 508,262, while car volume was up 2.1% to 148,879 units.
Ports of Auckland chief executive Tony Gibson says the story for the first half of this year is one of growth. “Ongoing growth in the Auckland region’s economy and population has led to steady growth in all the cargo types we handle”, he says.
This growth looks set to continue into the second half of the year, with a strong result in January and good volumes forecast for February.”
“We are focussed on smart growth, with a heavy focus on technology, innovation and sustainability in addition to more traditional infrastructure investments like wharves and cranes”, Gibson says.
