Litia Vuniduvu has been found guilty of 50 charges of dishonestly using documents to swindle more than $368,000 of rate payers’ money from Ports of Auckland.
The verdict was handed down at the Auckland District Court following an eight-day trial on April 17.
Vuniduvu’s partner, former Ports of Auckland ICT manager Paul Bainbridge, was jailed for three years and one month in December 2017 for his part in the scam.
Together the pair made a total of 50 fake invoices over a three-year period for work that was never carried out. It was eventually uncovered by a Deloitte audit, the NZ Herald reports.
Vuniduvu will be sentenced later this year.
